Absolutely spot-on. Yes, circumcision is awful and is also a symptom of a much deeper societal issue. We don't look at it because it's hard to look inside ourselves.
The reason children do not have social justice or advocates is simple: They have no money. The only reason any movement or cause takes hold is because 1. Someone can profit from it or 2. Someone will loose lots of money if they do not get on board.
The trouble is that most adults in societies that routinely traumatise their infant population have repressed or rationaliized their personal traumas to conform with cultural norms. Those few who become aware of the inhumanity of such atrocities are then ostracised, ridiculed, and silenced so the practices can continue.
